How about an update to the regular uploader? I am not interested in mass uploading. I haven't seen any posts that say it doesn't work the way staff described. We still de-duplicate, so that photos won't show up twice We'll look for any photos in the folder that aren't on Flickr, and upload them at that time. Let me get this right though - it still won't reupload a photo that's already uploaded, only if it's been previously uploaded and then deleted?īecause I've got about 10GB of photos uploaded, and wouldn't want to upload the whole lot again, just to be sure of catching the one or two that I previously uploaded then deleted again!

The windows-uploader tries to upload a photo again if the first attempt fails due to my bad internet connection. As I have often to live with a shaky internet connection the new windows-uploader has some advantages for me compared to the old web-uploader: The wep-uploader allmost allways gets stuck at some point due to the bad internet connection. This way You have full control which photos are uploaded by the uploader. You are aware that You can choose the folders from which photos are uploaded? For example You could choose a specific folder that You use only for the uploader. If You don't want to use it then simply don't use it. I don't want to use new Flickr Uploadr because new Flickr Uploadr uploads all photos in Folder.

So I gather I can edit and rearrange photos while the upload is in progress and it will use the hash number to keep track of pictures that have been uploaded.

So they don't need the copy of the image itself, only the calculated value that they got at the time of upload. With any file, you can create a "hash" number using the bits of the file and it can be used to create a unique identifier for that file. How else could Flckr know that a photo that's trying to be uploaded was previously uploaded, unless it had a copy of that photo to compare it to. If I've deleted a photo from Flickr, and also uninstalled and reinstalled the Uploadr, how does Flickr know that a photo I'm trying to upload has been "previously uploaded" ? Does this mean photos deleted from Flickr are not truly ever deleted off of their servers? How else could Flckr know that a photo that's trying to be uploaded was previously uploaded, unless it had a copy of that photo to compare it to. Even if I uncheck it and recheck it in Uploadr, the album in question just spins for a second and switches back to the (green circle with the check mark) "synched" icon.
